Trin Warren, as we call it for short, is an inner city water treatment plant quite close to the Melbourne Zoo. Its full title is Trin Warren Tam Boore Wetlands. Some days it's full of little bush birds, and others that are not so little... Erin Warren's a gorgeous place to visit to see some very large birds, such as the white-faced heron and an assortment of waterbirds. But go around the back area near the bird hide, and there is a fiesta of small birds lurking in the bushes and reeds. On a recent visit the silvereye were playing among those bushes and feasting on their buds and berries. The sun just hit the bushes at the right moment, and voila, a photograph of which we are proud. A new pencil-drawn artwork is already in the planning stages. If you happen to have access to central Melbourne - not as easy as it once was, we know - Trin Warren is a peaceful oasis and well worth a visit. If you're a cyclist, it's just off the Capital City trail. Pack a picnic, maybe some binoculars, and enjoy!
