Just when the weather feels at its worst in Melbourne, our skies and trees are brightened by the return of the lovely yellow-tailed black cockatoos. Here's some footage and pics of those we've seen this week...enjoy! The cockatoos come in to feed on the pine cones, and there's a nice crop just near Gate 3 and Jolimont Reserve. If you're walking, mind your head, as those pine cones come down pretty hard and fast! One of the reasons we love this annual event is that it reminds us that the cockatoos' visit in 2020 changed our lives... you remember what happened when we were all locked down way back then... well, we went for a walk near Fitzroy Gardens, saw the cockatoos and pulled out our iPhones to get some shots (as references for Rosalie's art). And Beverley thinks: nah, we have to do better than this, so she started researching cameras....and that's how we got into bird watching and bird photography. Our lives are so much richer for the change. Rosalie has continued to develop her artistic talent, but just for fun - here's what she produced from our very ordinary photos back then...and a bit later. Yarra Park We're really looking forward to spring, and getting back on the road again (exciting new project coming up - more soon), but in the meantime, enjoy our cocky pics!
