There's nothing like a photo-bombing pelican to take your mind of things...but Forster is such a relaxing haven, even this didn't raise our blood pressure! Here are few glimpses of the birds we saw in the exquisite surrounds of Forster. We had four nights in Forster - and we had rain and sunshine. Our cabin at the NRMA Forster Tuncurry Holiday Park wasn't cheap but it was compact, and perfectly adequate to keep us cool or cosy, depending on what was needed. What's more, it's surrounded by water as the lakes and the bay snake their way around the inlets, and that made for lovely walks and some good birdwatching in the bay. Here are some quick glimpses of the impressive locals. Pelicans are here is good numbers and visiting fisher people keep them well-fed with their scraps. Yellow-tailed black cockatoos did daily flights over our area, and thanks to a tip from a local, we learnt that bridge over to Tuncurry is not just for cars. Osprey often roost on the light poles and swirl about over the water. Terns and silver gulls are here of course, but watch out for the quiet ones - we saw bar tailed godwits in the distance! What a great little spot is Forster!
