If you follow our blog you'll know we just did a birding trip driving to Cape York from Melbourne, and we've been pondering 4WD and camping options for more remote drives. Well, we have acquired a Troopy, and we plan to make it into a tiny house as well... Why a Troopy? Well, just about everyone loves a Troopy, but for us, it's also about having a vehicle with the grunt and clearance to give us the confidence to drive over different terrain. Not rock hopping, you understand, just boggier and wetter tracks. Also, what really sold us was the option to add a roof conversion and then kit out the Troopy for overnights in remote locations. We've decided on an Alu-cab roof conversion, which will enable us to stand and sit comfortably in the back of the Troopy and have an internal roof tent. There are a few more "mods" to be done, and nothing happens fast these days. This is all pretty new to us, not really being 4WD folk (but we're learning fast!). If this is your thing, or you are pondering similar issues - rough roads, camping, the great outdoors, follow our build progress here.
