RAINBOW BEE-EATER
This delectable bird is brightly coloured with a yellow face with black mask, and green and blue underparts -- and as if that were not enough, black tail streamers. It loves feeding flying insects, including - unsurprisingly, bees. It is found in most parts of Australia. See more at eBird
All these photos were taken at another of my 'go to' bird photography sites - the Winton Wetlands, about two hours' drive north of Melbourne. There is such variety there - and these little chaps were having their lunch break near the Duck Pond at the north tip of the Wetlands. I love the silky colours of the rainbow bee-eater, and those tail streamers! But these birds are feisty little creatures - note the sequence with the dragonfly!
