SCARLET ROBIN

This large Australian robin is spectacular to see and photograph: the male is black above, with a black head and chin, and a large white spot above the bill, while its breast and belly are bright scarlet. The black wing have white panels. The females are brownish above, and pale below, with reddish breast patch. It can be seen in southeastern and southwestern Australia and Tasmania. See more at eBird

These images were captured in the Perth Hills area, and also near Boyanup in the south west of Western Australia in March 2022. They are such beautiful little creatures, and always remind me of Christmas decorations when they're spotted in the delectable greens and greys of the Australian bush. Click on any image to see enlarged photos.
