The weather was not really optimal for our purposes during our days in the Tablelands, and we know there is so much to see - but we managed a few glimpses between showers... Hasties Swamp is a good place to start in the Tablelands - we saw multitudes of plumed whistling ducks, as well as many other waterbirds. We were also delighted to see the agile wallabies in good numbers around Lake Tinaroo. We managed to photograph one... However, we were even more thrilled to see many bush stone curlews wandering around near the caravan park. We also had a lovely time at Lakes Barrine and Eacham when the weather really redeemed itself, and we captured some shots of local honeyeaters in the morning light at Lake Barrine. And on another day we randomly stopped in the countryside between Malanda and Atherton to capture quite an array of birds around the paddocks. Our brief account is well-short of anything near what the Tablelands has to offer, but it was a start...until we come back for another visit!
