On our last full day at Boobook we went to Fitzroy Falls and it was brilliant, augmented by a bright 23 degree day with big blue sky. There are two main walks at the Falls, both starting near the Visitors Centre: the Western Rim, and the Eastern. We decided on the Western, said to be the better of the two. It was less than 4km return, and really quite magnificent: wonderful views of the 80m falls, as well as great views across the enormous valley carved out before us, and some hidden gems like the grotto. Birdlife was also plentiful: as we set out a superb lyrebird was doing its digging, unfazed by a small crowd of human onlookers...here are some pics... Further down the track, we particularly enjoyed the Eastern spinebill and the Eastern yellow robin.
