BLACK-SHOULDERED KITE

The is a relatively small, striking gray and white raptor with black shoulder patches. Its legs and feet are yellow and its eyes are bright red. Luckily for photographers, it likes to perch on exposed branches and dead trees. See more at eBird

These images were all taken near Altona in Victoria in February 2022. The kite was very obliging and posed in a few different angles. It's also quite common to see these birds at the Western Treatment Plant, a little further soun=th and to the west of Melbourne. Click on any image to see enlarged photos.
