BLACK KITE
The black kite has dark plumage and a tail fork (can disappear when tail is fully open). Sometimes it is solitary, but black kites can also gather in large flocks at good feeding areas. See more at eBird
These images were all taken on Beach Road near the Western Treatment Plant in April 2022. There were about thirty black kites in a large flock, whistling and wheeling around among the trees, and also feeding in the paddocks. Click on any image to see enlarged photos.
