AUSTRALIAN RINGNECK

There are four sub-species of ringneck, and in Western Australia they are known as 28s, apparently because of their call. They are large green parrots with a yellow collar and overall a turquoise-green plumage. Those in central and western Australia have blackish heads. See more at eBird.

These photos were taken near Boyanup and in Perth in March 2022 - they are very shy and best captured when they are eating fruit or olives. Click on any image to see enlarged photos.
